LDB appoints Executive Director of Cannabis Operations
The BC Liquor Distribution Branch has taken a major step forward in its work to introduce the wholesale distribution and retail of non-medical cannabis to its business, appointing its first executive director for the cannabis division.
Michael Tan was appointed Executive Director of Cannabis Operations in early March.
Tan holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Western Ontario, and has extensive experience in executive leadership, supply chain, strategic procurement and customer relations.
“The recreational cannabis space is certainly going through a very exciting time in Canada,” Tan said.
“I’m interested in the huge social responsibility piece that goes hand-in-hand with the introduction of non-medical cannabis to LDB’s business; making cannabis less accessible to minors, reducing the criminal element, ensuring health and safety through quality assurances – these are areas that we’ll have a direct influence over, and that’s what excites me the most.”
The LDB is continuing its search for additional key personnel, including at the executive level, to support this initiative.
